Overnight or day trip?
Stromboli is a small island with a few places to sleep, and what matters most is when the boats come and go. A day trip works only if the arrival and the departure of a particular day fit your plans. An evening boat trip or a sunset hike does not come with a guaranteed hydrofoil home, so check the last departure before you book anything late.
This guide covers beds in the village of Stromboli. Ginostra, the second village, is a different case and has its own page. Other islands, including Lipari, are covered in the Aeolian Islands guide. This is an independent guide. It is not run by any hotel, ferry company or tourist office.

How the timetable decides
Examples from the October 2026 plans.
Arriving
The Siremar ferry from Milazzo on Mondays and Thursdays arrives at 20:30, after dark. You will want a bed already booked. The overnight ferry from Naples arrives at 06:30 on Wednesdays and Saturdays, so you can go straight to your room or leave your bag.
Leaving
The Siremar ferry to Milazzo leaves at 06:45 on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Liberty Lines lists departures to Milazzo at 07:15, 11:00, 16:30 and 17:15, though not necessarily every day. See how to get to Stromboli for the full table.
Evening activities
A sunset hike or a night boat trip ends after the afternoon departures. If no boat leaves afterwards, a night on the island is the only sensible choice. Sunset hikes start at roughly 15:00 to 18:00, depending on the season. See hiking on Stromboli and boat tours.

What local places offer
Examples that operators state on their own websites.
| Place | Type | What it states | Price information |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hotel Miramare | Hotel with annex | Rooms with terrace and sea view. Casa Limone, 50 m from the hotel, has 4 rooms on 2 levels. | – |
| Pedra Residence | Residence | Quotes depend on the length of stay, the number of guests and the season. | Price on request |
| Hotel Ossidiana | Hotel | June 2026 package: 3 nights for two in a superior double with sea view, breakfast, welcome drink, apericena (an early evening buffet meal) and a night boat trip to the Sciara del Fuoco (the lava slope). | €370 for two, valid 1 to 30 June 2026, now ended |
| Luna Rossa, Ginostra | B&B | 3 double rooms, some usable for three or four people, private bathrooms, shared kitchen. Details date from 2023. | – |
The room descriptions apply to those places only, not to the island in general. Prices in the table are the only figures stated, and the June package is a sample of what a hotel offered, not a current price. Ask for a quote for your dates.
Price seasons
How one local residence divides the year.
| Season | Dates |
|---|---|
| Very low | 1 November to 31 March |
| Low | 1 April to 15 June, and 16 September to 31 October |
| Highest | 8 to 21 August |
This is the price scale of one residence, not an island-wide calendar, and it says nothing about whether other places are open. Ask each place about its opening dates and how many nights it expects you to book. Hotels, residences and B&Bs set their own terms for children, deposits and cancellation.
Before you book
Practical points.
Check the ferry day
Match your nights to the days that boats run. The Siremar ferry from Milazzo to Stromboli in October 2026 runs on two days a week, so check which day suits your route.
Ask about luggage
Ask the host how to get from the Molo Scari to the room. Motor vehicles of non-residents may not land from 1 May to 31 October 2026, so expect to walk.
Plan the volcano nights
Hikes and boat trips depend on the alert level and the sea. Keep one spare night if you can, so one cancelled evening does not wreck the trip.

Best time to visit
Which services run in which months.
If you arrive on the mainland late, the Milazzo accommodation guide helps with a night near the port.
Questions to ask any host
Details that differ from place to place.
Opening and nights
Ask whether the place is open on your dates and whether it expects a minimum number of nights.
Children and payment
Ask about prices for children, any deposit and the cancellation terms. These are set by each place.
Getting there
Ask how far the room is from the Molo Scari and whether someone helps with bags on arrival.
Tours
Ask whether the host can arrange a hike or a boat trip, and when the last boat leaves on your day.
Staying on Stromboli: frequently asked questions
Can I visit Stromboli as a day trip?
Only if the boats on your day fit. An evening hike or boat trip ends after the afternoon departures, so check for a return boat before you book it. Otherwise stay the night.
How much does a hotel cost on Stromboli?
Prices depend on dates, guests and the season, and at least one residence quotes on request. A June 2026 hotel package cost €370 for two for three nights with a night boat trip, but it has ended.
When is the high season for rooms?
One local residence lists 8 to 21 August as its highest season, and low seasons from 1 April to 15 June and 16 September to 31 October. Other places set their own dates.
Can I stay in Ginostra instead?
Yes, in principle. Ginostra has its own small harbour and small-scale accommodation, but the ferry link is sparse. Read the Ginostra page before you book.
Will I get a boat home after an evening tour?
Not necessarily. Evening tours end after the afternoon departures, so confirm the return boat or book a room.
